I researched quite a lot on the Internet, but didn't find any information specific to my problem. Thank you in advance for help. ▲ Collapse | | | esperantisto Local time: 23:32 Member (2006) English to Russian + ... SITE LOCALIZER Not all StarDict dicitonaries are supported. | Aug 29, 2010 |
Search in the Yahoo! group archives, it’s been discussed. As I understand, StartDict dictionaries can have various specs and not all of them are supported.

[Edited at 2010-08-29 11:45 GMT] Exactly. Only dictionaries with sametypesequence='g' or 'm' can be used. One can check the type by opening the .ifo file in a text editor. Note that since 2.1.2, Lingvo DSL dictionaries are supported directly. Didier | | | translationcity Belarus Local time: 23:32 English to Russian + ... I searched in yahoo answers. There's some info regarding dictionaries formats. I got a Longman dictionary in "m: format. But it won't work too. Can anyone share a link to a EN-EN or EN-RU stardict dictionary that 100% works in OmegaT? | |

aprilrui wrote: version 2.3.0 on mac lion os,dictionary still doesn't work, no matter the sametypesequence= 'm','g' or 'x'.(english to chinese dictionary) There is a known bug in Java 1.6.0_23 and above, which prevents unpacking the dictionaries. See - StarDict dictionaries do not work under Java 1.6.0_23 http://sourceforge.net/support/tracker.php?aid=3291242 As mentioned on the tracker, there is a simple workaround: "Note that this bug only concerns packed dictionaries (with the .dz or .gz extension). There is another workaround: if the dictionary is extracted, and named with the same name as the .ifo file, with a .dict extension, it works."
