OmegaT target files not translated

Hallo all,

I hope you can help. I've worked on a omega t project with 25 source files and when I was done (tags corrected) I created the target files as usual. This time, however, the created files were not translated. In OmegaT everything looks normal.

What can I do??! I would really appreciate some help, since the deadline is tomorrow and I've never had this problem.

Thanks a lot!

Elisabeth

create translated documents May 6, 2014

Are you sure you "created translated documents"? Saving is not enough. Ctrl + D creates all of them. Give it time to say it's finished, since you have 25 docs.

Close OmegaT, close the session (if under Windows) and try again May 6, 2014

You do not give much details on the file format, etc. However, one reason I can see for target files to not contain translation where it exists is that these files are considered open by another application.

So, you could close OmegaT (if you are under Windows, close the session, as Windows only frees some files when the session is closed), and try again.

thanx guys and conversion May 6, 2014

Thanks guys, I tried again, and it worked. Puh.

While we're at it: I have a bunch of odt files everytime and it's rather time consuming to convert them one by one to doc. Any suggestions? I've searched the net, but it either seems to cost (quite a bit) or not work well (or it's too complicated with code to be filled in somewhere...)

Using .docx avoids conversion May 6, 2014

If your final files are .doc, it is usually more convenient to translate .docx files.

To do a batch conversion of .odt files to .doc (using OpenOffice/LibreOffice), the only method I know is indeed creating a macro ("code to be filled in somewhere") and a command line to call the macro.
