Disabling HTML Entity Conversion (German Umlauts)

Hello,
I am new to OmegaT 3.6.0 (and rather new in the translation business as well). I got a problem translating HTML files ENG > GER. The umlauts are all converted into HTML code. A problem I already faced with the Trial Version of Trados, which I came by when I found the option "Entity Conversion". Now I cannot find a similar option in OmegaT, nor does Google seem to be able to help.
Is there a way to turn the conversion for umlauts off?

Thank you guys in advance!

Kind regards,
Phil

OmegaT provides no such conversion as it cannot alter the source file in any way other than by replacing translatable text with translation. To be on the safe side, make sure that your source files are in UTF-8 and define UTF-8 also as the encoding for the target files.

To confirm what esperantisto wrote, OmegaT will only convert umlauts to HTML code if the target encoding does not support them.

UTF-8, for instance, is safe.

Alright guys, thank you! I'll just convert the questionable files to UTF8 then before importing them to OmegaT.
