Next year Dec 26, 2008

Would be interesting to repeat this next year, once we've been through (probably) 12 months of credit crunch. I've had a good year, but an awful last 5 weeks.

I put best yet, though that's possibly not true if I take inflation into account.

I lack option "worse then previous year, but not the worst".

Slightly better Dec 27, 2008

... than last year, much better than 2005 but far from as good as 2003.

Better than previous years Dec 27, 2008

Although 2008 is better than previous years, I hope 2009 will be the best.

About the same Dec 27, 2008

My year was about the same as last year in terms of revenue (my choice to limit revenue) however, my source texts were more interesting this year.

I wonder why there is no option "usual"? This year has been just usual, except for the last two months we've been living under the sinister shadow of credit crunch.

How about the option "Neither better nor worse than last year"...?
Strange poll.

In 16 years of free-lancing, I've had 2 years that were worse, 13 that were better.

Not enough options Dec 27, 2008

as already discussed.

However, my financial year ends on 5 April 2009, so there is still time for things to pick up. If I included figures for the past 12 months only, it would no doubt be a different story. I do not expect this financial year to be as good as the last due to the credit crunch (I specialise in construction and they're not building much in Spain at the moment).

what about "Other" option Dec 27, 2008

Strange poll.

Dear colleague,
There are unlimited options which could not be mentioned here. So, you can choose "other", if you don't find your preferred option.

Happy New Year

I'm doing OK Dec 27, 2008

I'm glad I don't constrain myself by "specializing" in any particular field...

My best ever in lots of ways, though just starting in translation work! Dec 27, 2008

Well, the question did say 'Workwise'!!

I gained a new qualification in Beauty Therapy last academic year. It was fun being a (part-time) student again and learning a brand new skill!

I have worked full-time for a term in a challenging and fulfilling teaching post. (Autism Outreach Teacher) Sadly this was a temporary post!

I also have a new, part-time job for January 2009 (Advisory Teacher for pupils with Medical and Physical Disabilities),which will allow

This may not allow you do as good a translation as you would be able to do in your field of expertise, but allows you to receive more work! I think your plan is a good one:-)
