No, but I'd love to Jun 19, 2010

I am fluent with football terms both in German and in Chinese, and have been interested in football since I was a teenager. I'd love to take jobs in this field.

Yes, but not regarding soccer Jun 19, 2010

I did the translation of an opinion poll for one of the main sponsors. I would have liked to do more on the topic of sport though. Unfortunately my knowledge of soccer is not as good as my rugby knowledge.

SATI (South African Translators' Institute) gave us a very useful guide for the soccer terminology to be used.

As far as interpreting goes, I think one must have excellent hearing if you want to do interpreting on the spot. All those vuvuzelas and the general noise created by the spectators are hefty opponents to speak against!

I love watching the World Cup games and I know the terminology in Spanish and English. It would be a fun job

Yes, but only indirectly. I've translated some texts about promotional products with a World Cup theme.

I tried to apply as a volunteer, but the call had already been closed...

I'd love Maradona's boys to bring the Cup back home; let's hope so!

Proofreading Jun 21, 2010

I worked on some texts that were tangentially related to the world cup, but as a proof reader, not a translator.
