Sats and Suns are quality time -- no phone calls and e-mails to reply to.

I can work at my own pace without the hassles of unwanted interruptions and disruptions.
Of course, I don't tell my customers this.

I would but Aug 21, 2013

I like the freedom to have my weekend when I choose ... but my partner is a teacher, which means she only has non-work time at weekends, so I don't in fact ever work weekends.

on Saturdays, mostly to catch up with things because of poor time management during the week.
I don't take on work specifically for weekends without extra WE charge. For the time being, I feel I work enough 5 days a week.

However, my view on this might change when my children leave the household. Or not.

yes, quite often Aug 21, 2013

gives me the freedom to have a few hours in the week to do other stuff. But, only if I need to because I took the time off in the week.
Otherwise, jobs that come in late in the week for delivery Monday, I usually negotiate a surcharge, unless it is a really good client.
Sometimes I just like to do some work at the weekend because I suddenly thought of a good phrase or a solution to some difficult terminology.
that is a great advantage of being freelance.

Anyway, I prefer taking days off when everyone else is "busy"...

Though in my case it is not so cut and dried.

I reserve the right NOT to work at weekends, as that is when I give priority to my private life.

However, a lot of my relatives and friends are pensioners and have discovered the joys of not being tied to office hours, while others who are working are actually busy in the social services or church at weekends.

So if a family party is held mid-week, I take the day off and work at the weekend too.

And if I have a tight deadline I work at all sorts of odd hours anyway.

As a freelancer, it is not definite point that I will have to enjoy weekend. My first focus is to satisfy our regular clients with working. Be it weekend or working day, when I have work on weekend, I will work on those weekends. Sometimes, I enjoy the weekend because of no projects in these days.

I had an editing job last weekend, in fact. I have no trouble with weekend jobs. But if i have plans that make it impossible then, no...sometimes your life takes priority!

Yes, very often Aug 21, 2013

I do tend to spend one day or afternoon with the family, but otherwise, if work is there, it will be done. I have more time during the weekdays (in some cases) for other things. That is the advantage of freelancers;-)

Am sitting in my parents-in laws garden at the moment working away in the sun - what a life:-)

I know that none of mine do. I look at these polls and Proz forums as "Members Only" clubs, says he sipping away on a nicely chilled glass of Chardonnay - what a life

too true:
ワラライフ!!

I would love to visit Japan again (last time I was 5!), left such a lasting impression
maybe if I work every weekend for a year, I can save up enough money but there again, is that Chardonnay glowing slightly ?
