Yes Jan 1, 2014

Because I have a lot of 'New Year cheer' inside of me right now. Hic.
I'm sure there will be a predominantly large number of Yes's in this poll for the same reason.

FYI, I'm in the middle of a large project that started late October and that'll continue until the first week of February, so I feel I'm allowed to be a little bit optimistic.

Have a happy and prosperous 2014, y'all.

Small edit -- maybe too much New Year cheer

I'm one of those people who always sees the glass as half full! May the new year be filled with lots and lots of... translations!

2013 was very kind to me and that made me very optimistic about 2014.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone! Jan 1, 2014

As for optimism:
Well I haven't had any orders yet.

(Jolly good job too because I don't have my head together enough to deal with work!)

I am always optimistic about all things, despite what others regard as common sense.
I agree with Muriel: Optimism does indeed beget positive outcomes.

I'm full of hope, plans and a few new longterm deals. Planning and dreams works sooo well together. I think this will be a good year.

Hope, optimism and pragmatism Jan 1, 2014

I prefer to be a pragmatist. Actually, I have no choice, since I'm a pensive introvert.

2013 was a great year for me: a new client kept me very occupied and well fed (burp!).

This client decided to renew the contracts for me and the team of translators I work with (in 5 other languages), so we are all very cheery about it.

Happy New Year!

Very Jan 1, 2014

We've spent the last six months laying the ground work for a new, massive, long term project that will keep us, and several other translators, happy and well fed for a long time.

That and 2014 has good feng shui

Yes :) Jan 2, 2014

I started actively looking for new clients in the autumn and during November and December I got 6 new clients. Of course it remains to be seen how much work that means in the end, but it still makes me feel better that I have more and more different sources of income.

I am also planning to create a website for my business and I have a couple of ideas up my sleeve that I may realize when I find time, or not. Exciting.

I would not call myself an optimist, I'm more prone to pessimism or pragmatism, but that doesn't prevent me from getting excited when I actually see positive things happening.

Sure! Jan 3, 2014

Same as others here: already had a big project in my inbox before the year even started, and also I have read somewhere that the market would be growing this year.

3 or 4 of my clients (agencies) have been talking about projects and end-clients for 2014 at the beginning of December, which of course helps being optimistic.

Happy new year everyone!
