No, not any more... Oct 31, 2014

I did engage in active marketing when things were slow, but I have been doing quite well over the last years: most of my new clients have come via word of mouth, my Proz profile and my website...

Well...... Oct 31, 2014

Anyone who appears (regularly) on this poll or on any other Proz forum including Kudoz is ensuring their Google visibility and that is tantamount to marketing one's services.

I will from here on Oct 31, 2014

The translation market has plummeted very badly recently here in Japan, at least for J>E work.

I don't know about other languages pairs, but Holmesy will definitely have to pull his finger out since well-filled waterholes are running dry.

Small edit

Somewhere between Chris S and writeaway... Oct 31, 2014

I keep meaning to, and I write friendly mails to favourite clients now and then.

Clients keep mailing me:

' You have been assigned ...' (That client always asks me politely to check whether I am happy with the assignment and the deadline.)

Or 'When can you deliver ...'

It's been crazy this month.

I'm sure I've answered this or similar questions many times.
I never know how to answer this - so answered other.
I don't have a marketing budget, strategy, plan, targets, etc and as far as I remember I've never spent any money on marketing activities.
I have my CV here and a couple of other places on-line, people can seek me out if they want to.
I don't know if that is considered active marketing or not.
Most of my new clients are referrals anyway.
Seems to me the best marketing is doing a good job.

Go to the column on the right hand side of the Home page. In the Quick poll section, after the number of total votes, you'll see written in red [Suggest a poll]

Sure... whenever I'm not too busy working. My calender says, no marketing for the next few months. And after that? I'm probably busy again or still.

And besides, what does "actively market" mean? Exactly? Is being on ProZ and various national servers/listings "active marketing"? I wouldn't say so.

No - but maybe I should Oct 31, 2014

I average about 6 hours of work a day year-round and earn enough to cover my lifestyle. If I were younger, I'd probably be shaking the tree. I'm not as ambitious as I used to be, and I'm busy promoting my book, "Finding My Invincible Summer."
