A cat (without tools)?

among other things (cup of coffee, glass of wine, freedom to go and to stay, some music, readings in the morning, walking in the afternoon. When workload does not squeeze our energies)
In these days, I feel a free translator, with the above mentioned possibilities but with no cat (I got angry with her and she is more permalous than me. We'll see ... )

A few of my professional best friends are missing on the list (in no particular order):

1. My PC
2. Internet
3. Dictionaries, glossaries, specialized texts and grammar books…

Good clients are always welcome… For the rest, I do enjoy the company of my dog, I couldn’t do without my espresso coffee (could I?), I appreciate enormously all the help I have received over the years from my former colleagues (specially one). I don’t drink alcohol for health reasons and CAT tools and music are not my best friends…

P.S. Forgot an important piece of my puzzle: my in-house proofreader...

That's what I was going to say:

- Above all, a good computer with one or several large monitor screens;
- The Internet;
- My hardcopy references, including style manuals.

Common sense! Sep 23

I see translation work as a never-ending series of decisions best made by using common sense above everything.

This spans from choosing the right words to express each and every thought in a different language to the choice of what is the translator's best friend at every moment, including the list suggested here.

A good friend Sep 23

Someone to take my mind off my work, help me live a good life... and make me laugh and smile and dance and sing (10 points to anyone who remembers THAT song)...

Silence. Sep 23

When everybody leaves the house to go to school or work.. and the house is empty and the only sound is the music you choose (if you do)

CAT yes, cat no Sep 23

Maybe a CAT tool. But not a cat or dog. They're great, but they only interfere.

Many friends Sep 23

My external keyboard, my personal glossary, my frequent clients, currency rate, my internet provider, Google, silence... and my dog, to force me to make some pauses

And of course, one (or two) glass of wise wine at the end of the day, and some beer pints with (real) friends at the end of the week.

A good client Sep 23

Good clients are few and far between. When you find one, you want to treat them well and hold onto them. They provide satisfying work and help you pay for rent, food and your life. Remember your good clients today and keep maintaining that relationship!
