I don't click on the featured translator very often, but I may if the translator works in my language pairs.

Or for other reasons... which may be very random. The face, someone I have met or someone who contributes to the forums, an intriguing logo or motto. Or just that I am bored and can put off getting back to work for thirty seconds more!

Always the photo Jan 25, 2018

Some of them are really intriguing.

What on Earth possessed them to choose that particular mugshot/cartoon/whatever? Is that really their best side?

So why did I choose mine? Good question.

I was happily imageless until one day in response to a poll discussion right here I decided to perform a social experiment and use the picture of a hot model to see if I was then offered more work.

Sadly ProZ's extensive network of humourless snitches and whingers were straight on my case about copyright and ethics and whatnot, and I had to take it down.

As for the photo I replaced it with, I suppose it was intended as some kind of statement along the lines of "This place is useless for finding work so what does it matter?" and I just haven't got around to changing it...

I don't because ... Jan 25, 2018

... I rarely go to the home page. KudoZ questions come directly via e-mail and I have links to go directly to the other places on the site where I want to hang out.

The urge to check out a colleague arises when they say something interesting on KudoZ or in one of the forums.

But I really do wish people would post photos of themselves instead of icons. The icons are a huge turnoff for me. I want to have at least some kind of idea about the person I'm sharing my thoughts with.

Other: to see if I know the person Jan 25, 2018

I might click if it's someone in my language pair, but usually I don't unless I know the translator, in person or from seeing his or her comments on a forum or KudoZ question.

I never did. What would be the use of that?
The featured translator is chosen randomly and stays there for about 15 minutes only. They are not chosen for any type of outstanding performance or any other special reason.
In addition, my ProZ pages are already loaded automatically: one in the KudoZ questions and one in the KudoZ serch. I only open the home page by mistake some times.
