Busy Jun 28

It has been a busy month: three or four longish files (around 10,000 words each) and a lot of smallish ones (around 1,000 words each).

Busy Jun 28

I have never had such a busy month as this one, let alone June which is usually when things start slowing down. I have actually had to reject a few jobs or pass them on to other colleagues.
My main job was a 70k word report that was needed within 2 weeks.
I'm not complaining though as it means I can enjoy July and August (typically slow months for my legal translations with law firms and the courts being on holidays) without worrying.

Other Jun 28

June this year has been slowish in parts, but then picked up again, to the extent that today I had to refuse an offer of work for next week from one agency. The slower periods meant that I had more time to see about things like tax returns and other non-translation activities.

Slow Jun 28

June seems to be a slow month for me every year, probably because of all of the bank holidays that they have here in Germany every year

A little slow Jun 29

I was promised an 80-page job in early June and I turned down other work to leave myself available. Then the client bailed without remembering to tell me.

It's a welcome break, however. I'm working on a project that I'm very excited about: having parts of my memoir translated into Portuguese for publication in Brazil.

Very mixed Jun 30

A big job with a good deadline, which ended up as a long gruelling week to get it off in time... so May was quite busy! Then a week's break to travel. I had told clients I was away, and turned down two small jobs anyway.

Several quiet days when I came back, then a rushed job over the weekend with an extra supplement, so June was busy at the beginning and end, and quiet in the middle.

The summer months are usually busy for us Jul 2

We always spend time at our French Office during parts of the summer, updating our language skills with the locals. A few years ago, we used to find the summer months very quiet but now with our phone number being available to them, data roaming and improved mobile signal in the foothills of the Pyrenees, our clients seem to know they can always get hold of us when everyone else is on holiday!
