I’m kind of a perfectionist (I’m not claiming at all that my translations are perfect) and I won’t leave a job until I’m satisfied. I can do this because I live alone and I don’t have family pressures anymore. More to the point, I haven’t accepted a rush job for a long time, my ‘up-all-night’ days and their nasty consequences are long gone, I know my limitations, I learned to say “no” and I never bite off more than I can chew.

Too much. It's not easy to keep the balance when riding a wave.

At my age, I should be chasing girls, fishing and playing golf - while I still can. Instead, I am "dedicating time to translation". Arrrgh!

As much time as I like, sometimes even more, sometimes less. The perfect balance between work and pleasure... but then again, translating is pleasure.

Does the question mean: "Do you get as much translation work as you would like?" or "Do you get to spend as much time as you would like on the work you get?"

Actually a bit more than I should. I still want to reach a status of equilibrium where I'll work a little bit less and make a bit more money, which is quite possible right now.

Like Teresa, I've learned to say "No." I've stopped killing myself meeting crazy deadlines and squinting at illegible PDFs and 6-point type. I have other projects (books that I'm writing and volunteer work) that I want to spend time on.
