Well, I do hope I live to see the integration between the TV, the Internet, the iron, the fridge, etc. I wonder how will that change our lives.
I know this already exists, but it is not affordable for me at the moment.
I mean in a large scale.
I will sure increase my TV time this year during the World Soccer Cup in Germany! I find it an extremely amusing sports spectacle.

I admit to watching a couple of hours a day. While I do favour socialising/exercising/eating(!) over watching the TV I think it has an important part to play in keeping me up to date with the latest cultural/linguistic trends etc., especially in what can be such an "ivory tower" profession.

Last year I bought a fantastic new TV and I watch it almost every day. I find it is very useful to keep hearing not only my foreign languages, but also to keep up with how my own language evolves beyond my social circle. I also enjoy eating with the news and being up to date about how things are in the world - it is more superficial, but takes up a lot less time than reading the paper.

When last year I had a momentary urge to get one, my nine-year-old daughter asked me, 'Do you REALLY need it?'

The previous poll discussed the number of books read per month. I wish I had time to read a book for pleasure and not for watching TV. Contrary to Susana Galilea, I own a TV, but only because kids like to watch it (fortunately they read books as well).

In my case this is an absolutely personal choice, having no kids or roommates around me. If I had the strength of will to resist watching hour after hour of programming, I would consider having a TV as I can certainly appreciate its advantages. From past experience I know this is not the case with me, and I admire anyone who is able to resist the lure of the flickering screen. I decided long ago I preferred my silence, my music and my radio. These days I also enjoy watching documentaries and movies on DVD. I do miss my "Law & Order", but I suspect even that is available on DVD nowadays, should the mood strike for a binge

TV programs in Mexico are awful...
Thank God! I don't have temptations. I only watch a few minutes some interesting programs (when I have enough time).

I haven't been watching TV for the last six or seven months, since my TV aerial collapsed during a windy storm (yes, it was one of those ancient aerials, nothing to to with satellite dishes or cable TV, more or less a museum piece...)
Out of sheer laziness (I'm a champion procrastinator in some domestic areas )I haven't had it fixed yet, and I'm still amazed that I don't miss it at all! That must be why I voted for ... Sitting with my back turned to the television set, keeping my eyes on my computer screen while diligently moving my fingers, I love to listen to TV5, the BBC or RTL5 (stock exchange and related topics).
Whenever I hear something really interesting I turn around to watch for a couple of minutes.
Translating is a lonely business, you see.

"Anti-TV" snobbery still exists in some circles. I'm certainly not implying that anyone here falls under that banner.
It's funny how "I don't have a TV/I don't watch TV" posts here far outweigh the "I watch TV" ones. People seem much happier to say that they don't have a TV/don't watch TV. Or maybe people with TVs are watching them now
