Yes, I will surely organise a powwow this year! Feb 2, 2007

How co-incidence it is that I have just mailed one of my co-translators in my pairs who lives in my city to either organise a powwow or fix a date when he is available to attend a powwow so that we can fix a date.

Yes, I will surely organise a powwow this year or attend it if somebody else organises.

Maybe... Feb 2, 2007

I hope I manage to do so. I have half committed myself to some fellow interpreters, and will try to assemble some translators as well.

Yes, I would like to organize a Powwow this year Feb 2, 2007

Hi, I live in the San Antonio, Texas, area and we have a small group of translators that is affiliated to the Austin Area Translators and Interpreters Association. I think that an event of this sort would probably bring in other people that we have not been able to reach. Also, some translators from Corpus Christi and Laredo maybe might join us since this is not as formal as having a "translator organization " per se. My question is, do all these powwows last one evening, or have there been others that bring in speakers, etc.? I have attended ATA's Spanish Division conferences before and they are quite enjoyable. However, not all the time I (or others I am sure) can get away, either for financial or other types of reasons. Therefore, a powwow would be an excellent way for people who are members of ProZ or in the area to get together, have fun and network as well.

I would love to be in a position to organise a powwow! Feb 2, 2007

I read about the powwows with great envy! I enjoy the snippets of conversations that peer comments provide, but my personal circs (two small kids, two large full time jobs!) and geographic location (well over an hour´s travelling to anywhere large enough) make it impractical at the moment. But I hope to take part in the future.

By the way, what are people´s experiences of setting up powwows in smaller locations?

Yes, in Toulouse Feb 2, 2007

Strange coincidence indeed. A fellow Prozian and I were just discussing this over tea this afternoon. We will be organizing a powwow in Toulouse very shortly, so if you're in the Midi-Pyrénées area make sure to keep checking the powwow listings!

Uuuh...

I guess it depends on whether I make time to pull it off, but I'd certainly would love to host a powwow here in Viseu, if not this year maybe in 2008!

Second time's the charm? Feb 3, 2007

I organized a Powwow in Austin, Texas, a couple of years ago, and waited alone at the appointed location for over an hour, even though several people had posted that they were going to try to make it. I wonder if my chances would be better now?

We can help Feb 3, 2007

If you plan to organize a powwow or even consider the idea to do so, you should contact our Romina at her address romina at proz.com.

Romina can advise on organization, send out invitations to other ProZians in your area, help with identity verification and recording of attendance, and a lot more.

Regards,
Enrique
