After living for some months and years abroad (Australia, The Netherlands) I came back to my home country, Peru. Home, sweet home!

It depends on whether you consider Puerto Rico as part of the U.S. or whether they are two different countries. And that opens a whole political can of worms that I'm not getting into! Certainly, I'm in a place that is linguistically and culturally very different from my home state of Illinois. And I've lived here for 35 years now, so I don't think I'll ever go back! And yet, the grandkids are in Illinois...

yes, after spending some 3 years abroad (Delft, the netherland - such a lovely country !). Well, back to your home land is always good, but my life experience in The Netherland is such a unforgettable moment !

I moved back to India after twenty years in Europe, mostly in Austria and the UK. My experiences there will always have a deep impact on me and influence my attitudes and the way I live my life. I love India too, though, in spite of all the problems and differences. There are so many interesting and fascinating places to see here and so much to confront and improve. Life is very challenging, but it's great!

Left England in 1999, hardly ever been back (about once every couple of years on average). Can't see myself ever living there again.

I've been living in KSA my whole life my dad is an expat there so going to my home town Syria is like a tourist event ( A tourist in my own country?!) whats important I geuss is that you feel at home wherever you are. There is always a dream of going back though!!

It seems that many of us use the fact of living out their home coutry as an opportunity to do this wonderful job. I don't think I would ever have done it if I had not lived abroad several years. That gives you a good background to be a translator, I think.
Being French and having spent 12 years in Spain, I am currently living a few months in Iceland.
And when I come back to Spain, next summer, I will really feel like going home!

It's kind of surreal, but (particularly for interpreters) it's already happening.

I think I will always think about Latvia as my second homeland. I spent there almost 7 years, the years of my youth, and came back to Hungary with my first son, Peter in 1993 (he was born in Riga).
Being Hungarian, I lived short-time periods in different countries: a month in Norway, a year and half in Russia, few months in California, US, and always came back.
