Hi, I apologize for the somewhat repetitive nature of this topic, but I'm looking for a dictionary Port>Eng, CD rom preferred. I've found good resources on the internet, but am taking a trip back to the states and wanted to purchase a CD rom or dictionary there. Anyone know a good foreign language bookstore in NY, or a good web site? Thanks, Lauren Hermele

If you use European Portuguese, «Porto Editora» is the best dictionary in CD (Port-Eng or Eng-Port). You can purchase it by Internet: www.portoeditora.pt Cheers Gabriela Frazao

Hi Lauren, A good website for translation dictionaries in the U.S. is i.b.d. ltd. at ibdltd.com. Freek Lankhof's main business is selling to translators. I'm not sure if they carry Portuguese books or not, but a good place for Spanish books in NYC is Lectorum (think it's on 14th Street). Stay away from Rockefeller Center... the French American (if that's what it's called) bookstore there carries lots of languages, but prices are absurd. One of ... One of my translation students didn't follow my advice and bought a dictionary there for over $100, when Freek was charging $30 for the very same edition. Have in NYC (I love New York - worked there for 20 years and still visit several times a month). msg lauren hermele wrote: Hi, I apologize for the somewhat repetitive nature of this topic, but I'm looking for a dictionary Port>Eng, CD rom preferred. I suggest the following dictionary on a CD-ROM It is not very expensive and can be integrated into MSword if you want. The version that I am presently using was given away free by the IP UOL, on the CD-ROM they send to you in the mail to entice you to sign up for their service. It gives Português - Espanhol, Português - Inglês, Inglês - Português, Espanhol - Português dictionaries and a verb conjugator in Português. I also have the DIC MICHAELIS 2 IDIOMAS, but I ... I also have the DIC MICHAELIS 2 IDIOMAS, but I used windows 95 when I bought it and now have to get the updates for windows 2000 so I can re-install it. The only thing I miss on not using it is the 'dicionário de sinônimos, antônimos e parônimos da língua portuguesa, e dicionário de informática e termos executivos' DIC MICHAELIS 2 IDIOMAS O mais pratico e completo dicionário para Inglês/Português e Português/Inglês do mercado.
