Rained out Jul 25, 2009

I would like you to know that I am canceling today's Powwow. The ground at the park is supposed to be a muddy mess and there has been a heavy rain warning.
On the bright side, I have rescheduled the BBQ pits for August 8th!! Please let me know what you think and update your participation.
Call me at 090-7398-4997 if you have any questions.
Tom

Looking for a good BBQ location. Jun 30, 2009

Hey folks, we need to select a location for Powwow 2, BBQ time.
Oki suggested http://www.ocsga.or.jp/osakapark/hfm_park/01tsurumi/02_bbq.html, but unfortunately it's already locked up. The yodoyagawa park is apparently not BBQ friendly. If all else fails, I can probably arrange a rooftop BBQ above my building.
Still, I think we can do better, and look forward

Still, I think we can do better, and look forward to your advice! I think anywhere in Osaka/Kobe/Kyoto is acceptable if it has BBQ facilities. If I have to arrange the grills, etc. it will have to be closer to Osaka proper.

Nanko Chuo Koen, Jul 3, 2009

Here is the location I was able to find. http://www.winriver.net/kansai/map/amusement/sport/nanko-park.php Please check it out. Oki has agreed to share some of the reponsibilities for planning the event and we are leaning towards making it all BYOB. If you have any opinions on this matter, please share!

One more attendee Jul 11, 2009

Guys & dolls,

There is at least one more person planning to attend. Kobayashi-san, 営業部長 at GK Associates, Inc., will be joining us at the barbeque.

This coming week I will try a bit harder to get more GK folks involved. Stay tuned for more updates! hahaha...

Update Jul 15, 2009

Hey everybody.
I thought I would update you all on the BBQ. Right now I have a total of 4 people listed to come, and at least 4 possible visitors from offsite, (through Oki and myself).
I have also bought the following.
1 box of charcoal
1 lighter
Some grills (網)
A large bottle of Yakiniku no tare
20 Waribashi
30 Yakiniku plates
18 Paper cups
A few garbage bags
A few fire-starter bricks

All of that was purchased

All of that was purchased for around 2000 yen. My plan is for everyone to bring at least 4 100 yen coins (until we can verify more people) and get that money back. All other supplies should be taken care of by participants. I will recalculate that so there isn't any significant profit/loss closer to the actual Powwow.
Now let's get some people invited/verified and build this thing up to a hot but fun Saturday evening. Remember than anyone who is coming for the second time should bring at least 10 business cards and anyone coming for the first time should bring at least 20 cards.

Confirming attendance. Jul 20, 2009

Just a quick reminder to everyone. Please confirm your attendance and let me know if you are bringing folks off-list. We have some space capacity-wise to fill.
Also, I would be interested in knowing if you would like an activity for a more directed discussion, perhaps from 3:30 - 4:30, with our cooking from dinner onwards.

Laptop Jul 23, 2009

If someone could bring a laptop I can share some of the translation and DTP tools I use. Sorry I don't have a laptop myself or else I would.

Ten-four Jul 25, 2009

Good decision I, too, did not know until I switched on the TV an hour ago to find out about the thunderstorm warning issued in northern osaka.

new members Jul 30, 2009

Glad to have you along. Just a reminder that the 8th is a bring your own meat/drinks event. For one hour or so, I will provide activities for casual networking, and then when the cooking begins we can have fun and move about freely.
