...and that makes ten! Oct 4, 2012

Hi Patricia!

That's hard to say really. I have never organised or been to a Powwow yet, so I have no reference point.

I suppose a few hours, maybe 2? If anyone reading this has been to other Powwows, please let us know!

Michael

Hi there Michael! Oct 5, 2012

Me too, I've never been to one, however, I've been to other Business Networking meetings before, and based on my experience, an opportunity is given to everyone to say their name or what they do, and then, chit chat....

Fantastic!, thanks a lot for organizing this, I will do my best to be there!

Hello Nehad, Oct 9, 2012

The Powwow starts at 13:00.

I haven't planned any discussion topics, as I was hoping to just see what people felt like discussing on the day. I think it would be nice to start off with a round of introductions, and then just go from there.

Possible discussion topics for the 1st Brighton Translators’ Meetup Oct 9, 2012

If anyone is interested, I could say a thing or two about CAT tools, terminology management software, or other useful tools for translators such as IntelliWebSearch/Multifultor, Autohotkey, etc.

If there is anything one of you would like to talk about, let us know here!

Hi Michael Oct 11, 2012

Address of Café Délice: 40 Kensington Gardens, Brighton BN1 4AL (tel 01273 622519).
On Google Maps StreetView it's ‎at the corner of North Road and North Laine (aka Kensington Street).
Approx 6 mins' walk from Brighton Rail Station. Walk down Queen's Rd towards the seafront - turn left into North Rd and it's on your left after approx 3 mins.

This is my second powwow. First one was in London and lasted approx 2.5 hours.

Am interested in the suggested topics

Am interested in the suggested topics. Also interested in developing my customer base, so particularly keen on hearing fellow translators' experience of agencies and their fruitful marketing strategies - social networks, approaches to direct clients, etc.

Am in Cranleigh, Surrey. Will be a little late as my train is due to arrive in Brighton at 1304.

See you then,
Clive

Hello Clive, Oct 11, 2012

Yes, direct clients would indeed be a very interesting topic for discussion. I for one still have a lot to learn in that area.

See you on Saturday!

Hello everyone! I need to confirm how many of us will be able to make it. Oct 12, 2012

I need to call the venue this evening to confirm how many people will be coming tomorrow.

Can everyone who has not indicated whether they will be attending please do so on this page?

a few photos from our powwow! Oct 15, 2012

Hello everyone,

Sorry I took a while to get these up, but I only just got home from Cambridge late last night.

I would like to thank everyone that came. I had a really good time and I think we should organise another one sometime in the not too distant future, perhaps in a quieter place.

Michael

PS: thanks for the box of chocolates Barry & Kaspars!
