Meget mere senere.

In Danish? Mar 24, 2013

Dear Annelise,

Will this powwow be in Danish? Just noticed that the information about it is being given in Danish, so if the meeting will also be carried out in this language I won't be able to participate.

Kind regards,

Nicole

Dear Annelise,

May ask you why this powwow will be in Danish?

PowWow in Danish May 8, 2013

Well, it is meant for Danish translators mainly based in Denmark. I have to admit this is only my second PowWow, but as far as I know PowWows are usually held in the language they are aime at. I could be wrong. Maybe others here know more about it.

It's nice to have a Danish forum May 21, 2013

Where we can address the specific situation for Danish translators.

However, I would not mind attending a Europeans Powwow, too.
What about organizing one in, say Berlin, Cristina?

The Powwow Berlin 2013 was already organised on May 18, 2013 (not by me): http://www.proz.com/powwow/4583

Danish Jul 31, 2013

Well, it is a shame that the powwow will be held in Danish only, as Copenhagen is such an international city, where translators from all around are based or live nearby.

I have organized two powwows here in Sweden and none of them were in Swedish. We had translators from Slovakia, France, Portugal, Brazil and, of course, from Sweden and the exchange of experiences was incredibly rich, due to the diversity of the translators experience in their countries, language pairs and expertise areas.

Still, I understand that this aspect of the powwow is chosen by the organizer. So I wish you good luck and hope the Danish translators will have a good time.

______________

As far as I remember, there was a question a couple of years ago about why the powwow was held in Danish.
A number of translators come from other countries and really appreciate the chance to speak Danish with Danish colleagues.

A lot of the things we talk about are Danish oriented, or we look at them from a Danish angle. Of course, a professional interpreter could cope, but we decided then at least to run the powwow in Danish.

Last year I did briefly mention that becasue so many people came - and even then there were quite a lot who could not come that day - that perhaps it might be an idea to have more than one powwow each year.

It is not so difficult to set one up - and it is not necessary to have a strict agenda or anything like that. It just seems a good idea when there are so many, all with so much to say!

I suggest that those who can't manage a whole powwow in Danish organise another one as they want it. I will certainly consider coming if I think I can understand just a little (and that means English, maybe German, but not much French).

Looking forward to seeing everyone!
Christine

Overnatning Aug 4, 2013

Hej venner

Venlig hilsen
Annelise

Spisning lørdag aften/samkørsel Aug 10, 2013

Hej Annelise

Hej

mvh
Annelise
