Certification on dossier Feb 26, 2010

The CTTIC [Canadian national body of professional translators, interpreters and terminologists] http://www.cttic.org/certification.asp
offers translators with a minimum of 5 years professional experience the option to apply for “Certification on dossier”. For that you are required to submit, together with a formal application, a number of work samples (including accompanying statements that prove this is indeed your translation), provide reference letters that outline your experience, write an ethics exam, and list your academic degrees/ translation diplomas. You mention that you intend to settle in Toronto, so check out this link:
http://www.atio.on.ca/Certification/dossier.asp
Because the titles of certified translator, certified conference interpreter, certified court interpreter etc are now protected in 4 Canadian provinces (including Ontario), this is a sought-after credential for all translators who want to work for government agencies or provide translations that are recognized by the courts.
Hope this info helped a bit! Good luck with everything.

johanna
