Hello everybody, I hope you can help me, I need information and advice. I happen to work as a copywriter for the first time, along with translation, but I don't know what rate has to be asked. I mean, is there a general rule? Per word, per work.....I've been asked for a quote in general and I don't know what to answer. Unfortunately, many clients don't see the distinction between these two professions, and yet there is a yawning chasm separating the two. A copywriter is not only someone who is extremely creative and who masters the language, he/she must have a good grasp of marketing, human psychology, and the nuances of the target culture's traditions, history, and economic and political climate. A copywriter is not only someone who is extremely creative and who masters the language, he/she must have a good grasp of marketing, human psychology, and the nuances of the target culture's traditions, history, and economic and political climate. A copywriter can charge by the hour or after more experience by a general project fee, and their hourly fees are generally at least twice the average translator hourly fee. Do some research on the internet and you'll find more information. Ex. http://angelabooth.com/services/webfee/webfee.html or http://www.andrewlinickdirectmarketing.com/CCAFeesTerms.htm Make sure that your client is looking for copywriting services and not just 'localisation' or a cleaned up translation. Good luck!

When setting an hourly or flat rate for a copywriting project, you also have to keep in mind the number of versions and revisions this rate includes. Copywriting is a creative endeavor, what one submits to a client may or may not get immediate approval or he/she may want several variations to choose from. It behooves you to determine the number of copies and revisions that your fee includes. Hope this helps, Patricia
Thank you N.M. and Patricia. You both have been useful to me. I've been asked for a quote for copywriting in general, so I chose the hourly rate.
