Hi, guys. I just got an email from a peer stating that his pc was infected with the above mentioned virus and how I should remove it and contact everyone on my mail list. The file is supposed to have an icon that looks like a teddy bear. What happens is that I remember something really similar from half a year ago or so and that one was a hoax (that\'s what you call a fake virus, right?). I just wanted to check with somebody more experienced, but I\'m nearly positive it was a hoax. Thanks beforehand.

Yes. This is one of the oldest hoaxes I know of.

1. It was discussed on this website not so long ago (look for it).

2. The giveaway is (usually) bad English and the request to send it \"to everyone you know\".

If you have doubts, always check out Symantec\'s or McAfee\'s web sites for the latest in virus threats, hoaxes etc.

Those guys are always up to date (It\'s their job, right?)

For that matter, the hoax lists on these sites make for interesting reading in general, and that way you\'ll be better prepared the next time something like this pops up in your mailbox.

Always check! Dec 4, 2002

Hi there,

Before deleting or spreading the hoax, ALWAYS check some antivirus website like www.symantec.com, which is always updated.

Good luck!
