Hi -

I remember a few years back there was an option to use a custom URL format, which included your User Name instead of your ID.

So, instead of something like this:

http://www.proz.com/profile/123456789

you could use something like this:... See more

Is this option still available?

I have been testing the custom URL format, and it actually seems to work sometimes - but only when I'm logged in. If I'm not logged in and attempt to access my profile using the custom URL format, it says that this ID does not exist.

(Actually, strangely enough, I just previewed this post, and tested the two links above to see what happens.. and the link to "johnsmith" actually goes to *my* profile page! So I guess if I'm logged in, *any* profile URL ending with a bunch of letters sends me to my own profile.)

Thanks for any help!

Hello Scott,

First, I would like to confirm that any link that begins with http://www.proz.com/profile/ and is followed by a combination of letters will take you back to your own profile.

Hello Scott,

First, I would like to confirm that any link that begins with http://www.proz.com/profile/ and is followed by a combination of letters will take you back to your own profile.

Now, regarding changing the URL to your profile, all members have the option to select among 3 different URL formats for their profiles. This can be found going to the "Settings" tab on your profile and then going to the "Search engine settings" section, or by following this link: http://www.proz.com/?sp=profile&sp_mode=settings&sp_submode=se

This allows you to change the "profile" in the URL to either "interpreter" or "translator".

Hope this explains! Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Best regards,
Alejandro
