At least in may case, the Chinese crawlers have IP numbers that are a little different every time, and they are not blocked as the other crawlers are. So they show up again and again. I block them, but new ones keep cropping up.

IP addresses such as 66.249.72.xxx are from Google bots. I had to hide about 25 of them today to have a clear list. :-/

It's a cat and mouse chase. Hiding these IP addresses is one solution, but if the last three digits are different by one number (ex. 123 -> 124), you have to keep on pressing the hide tab endlessly. So I stopped hiding them...

Yaotl Altan wrote: The visitors tab displays IP, Country, time... but how could we configure it to get a Google-like map? Thank you. by clicking on the IP address. Then you see, among other things, latitude and longitude, and after that "MapG MapV". Click on one of those to get a map. Sometimes I take a little virtual "holiday." Once I got a map for Prague that went right down to street level, and which I could view from various angles... Felt like I'd just been to Prague for a few minutes. Another time, I found myself zooming in on a small island off the coast of Finland. Other times, however, all you get is a point in the middle of a street somewhere. Still... it's interesting

Please submit a support request | Sep 25, 2012 |
Hello Tom, Tom in London wrote: Henry Dotterer wrote: Thanks, all. We'll implement something soon. That would be great. When? If you check the entire thread you will see that, Since Henry made that post --Aug 29, 2009-- a few changes were in fact introduced to filter out visits by search engine robots. However, since robots are programs that traverse the web, sometimes it may not be possible to automatically filter them out unless they are added manually to a filter. For this, we recommend members who observe the visit of web bots or crawlers to their profiles to submit a support request so that support staff can check the visit in detail --without disclosing private visitor information from your profile here in the forums-- and take appropriate action. Thanks! Lucia

Hi Lucia, thank you for your advise. If just a couple of bots visit your profile it's not a problem to submit a support request - but what's with dozens and dozens? I am not convinced that you have to know any single IP spider address. Other systems leave them out automatically so there MUST be a way to do the same on Proz. That would be great! Hi! Would it be possible to have a checkbox by the IP addresses so several can be selected and deleted with a single click? This will make deleting visitors much more easier. Thanks, Marina

As explained in my previous reply, in such cases, support staff --together with site developers-- check visits in detail before taking action (i.e. marking an IP as a crawler IP). For this reason, I kindly ask you to please submit a support request with relevant details if you believe that you are receiving visits from web crawlers. Thanks! Lucia
