Hi folks,

Just to let you know...

If the address where you receive ProZ mail is a Hotmail address, and the sender of the mail has a \"from/reply\" address that is a Hotmail address, then you may or may not be getting ProZ mail.

As a part of MSN/Hotmail\'s increasing efforts to filter out spam, they automatically filter spam to a junkmail box or block it from your account completely. This is done based on a series of junk filtering algorithms, which aren\'t necessarily 100% good.

For example, when an email that has a \"from/reply\" address to Hotmail doesn\'t contain the the email headers that indicate that it came from the MSN/Hotmail website, then Hotmail considers it junk. They probably do this to prevent spammers from faking their address as a hotmail address - and it _can_ be done... very easily, I might add.

Depending on your settings, the mail will either be plopped in a junk folder or completely blocked from your account. When you activate Junk Mail settings, I think that it\'s set by default to completely block what Hotmail considers to be \'junk\'.

If you want to get ProZ mail via your profile, then you set your junk/spam options set to \"Delayed deletion of junk mail\". It will then filter it to a junk folder where you can review and decide for yourself what is junk and what is not.

Sometimes having ProZ mail blocked is a good thing, in the sense that you don\'t get mail from angry or otherwise grumpy members that might be venting because you disagreed with one of their responses. But it could be a bad one for those who get client mail/job offers via the profile.

...just another tidbit to go along with your daily grind.
