Hello,

I checked the WhoIs for a domain name thinking about hosting @ProZ.com. but when I try to also order the name through ProZ.com. I am not able to do so! I was specifically looking for a .BIZ domain, but that seems not to be supported! (I get .com, .net, even .us, but no .biz....)

Check the Hosting Info May 23, 2003

Hi Ramon,

The information you\'re looking for is on the ProZ.com hosting info page, specifically in the additional tech info:

Can I register other top level domains besides .com, .net, .org, and .us? (ie .co.uk)

The only domains that can be used with ProZ.com hosting are .com, .net, .org, and .us. Country-specific domains such as .co.uk or .com.au each have different registration rules and are often more expensive. This includes .tv and .ws extensions among others.

Guess that answers your question...

Best regards, Ralf

But .biz is NOT country-specific... May 23, 2003

Well, the quote is about country-specific domains, which indeed are sometimes hair-rising (e.g., as an individual I cannot contract a domain in Spain (.es)!).

However, the .biz extension (same as .name, and a few new ones) are generic, & not specific to a particular country.

In any case, many thanks, Ralf!
