Anyone knows PROZ's european VAT number?

This has been addressed here recently(in French): http://www.proz.com/forum/french/182944-facture_renouvellement_adhésion_proz_non_valable_avec_la_mention_eu_:_que_faire.html ; there seemed to be pb some French accountants.

The EU VAT number seems to be EU276000137(*)

The EU VAT number seems to be EU276000137(*)

(*)Registered with German office as required under new Directive's "Special
Scheme" for non-EU companies. As far as we know, Special Scheme VAT numbers can not yet be confirmed online. Relevant documents: Directive 2002/38/EC and Regulation No. 792/2002 amending the Sixth VAT Directive (77/388/EEC)

Hi Gerard,

I'm sorry, but I actually have no solution.

Simply my accountant already said me he doesn't need Proz's european VAT number anymore. He wanted to know it for my accountancy and, since the number EU276000137 appeared to be not valid for him, I asked you about it.

In the meantime I've asked also Proz's Support and they confirmed me that Proz's European VAT Number is that one.

Your accountant seems not to know that VAT numbers can start with "EU" for "Foreign companies that trade with non-enterprises in the EU". You can refer your accountant (or his office) to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Value_added_tax_identification_number -- which in turn links to a related EU document.
