MSN messenger status incorrect

The Messenger logo on my profile page constantly shows me as being off-line, when I am actually logged in (through Outlook Express).

Can anyone suggest why this is and what I can do to make it show up correctly?

Thanks...

It's a bug Jun 2, 2004

Hi Julia

It's a bug and I know that it has already been reported to Support.
Let's wish that they'll have time to look at it.

Claudia

it's a bug, it was identified a long-long time ago... Jun 2, 2004

However it seemed to be unbeatable, so I took the Messenger out of my profile.

Are you sure that you're using MSN messenger, but not Windows messenger? Jun 3, 2004

Well, maybe it's a bug, but this is what I thought: I have the Windows messenger (the one that's included in the XP package, not the one downloaded from the MSN site), and I haven't downloaded an MSN add-on. Once I start Outlook Express it automatically connects (because my Hotmail account is also added to Outlook), so I am online on Windows messenger only. As long as Outlook is open, it shows you online in your pals' lists even if you don't have the green icon on your task bar at that time. And I guess the IM icon on the profile pages shows MSN messenger only, so it doesn't work when you don't have the MSN messenger or its add-on to Windows messenger.

But my theory fails, of course, if those of you having this problem use MSN actually... Just a thought
