I know how it feels!
In my case I have contacted the moderator of the language pair in question. She was at the same time the one who had the best answer to my posted question. I was verry relieved by her professional approach and generosity. We both decided to leave it as it was for the sake of the peace among the involved colleagues.
Even though it's not only a matter of Kudoz, once a question must be closed we have to do it in a correct way by grading the right answer.
