WinAlign - errors when saving: syntax incorrect & access denied

Dear fellow specialists.


At the moment I am working with Trados 5.5, creating a database from older translations. My employer has Trados 5.5 installed on two computers, but WinAlign only works correctly on one of them. Whenever I try to save a project with the malfunctioning program to the hard disk of the other computer the following error message appears:


(123): The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect [//XXX] AlignmentIO.cpp: line 101


However, when I try to save a project to the local hard disk this message appears:


(5) Access is denied


After this has happened, an error window appears that tells me that WinAlign.exe has developed a fault and then the program shuts down.


I browsed through the Trados support website without finding anything resembling this problem. Therefore, I turn to you dear fellow translators for some advice.

Patch for Winalign Aug 1, 2002

I dont\' know if this patch can be useful to solve your problem, but currently there is a patch for Winalign.. I can\'t tell you more because I still have to start working with it.


In any case... go to the Trados site, login in the translationzone (otherwise register!)


Then go in the Download section, and then in Patches, and see if some of them can help you icon_smile.gif

Thank you Ralf for your suggestion. However, I did not contact Trados Support because I suddenly discovered the CAT center here at Proz and posted a query in the Trados group forum with the results that all my worries were wiped away in few hours.
