I work with Trados 5.5 (FL) sucessfully and should like to install the latest available version of WordFast on one and the same Notebook.

Purpose is to evaluate Wordfast in order to be in a position to replicate \"life situations\" of a colleague\'s potential difficulties when he starts working with a TM (WordFast) the first time ever.

QUESTION:

Are there any known problems with Trados 5.5 after having installed and/or run WordFast?

No problems at all Oct 1, 2002

I have installed Trados 3, Trados 5.5, Wordfast and Déjà Vu in the same machine and I don\'t experience problems at all.

TRADOS/Wordfast Oct 2, 2002

I wouldn´t load both templates for Trados and Worfast at the same time.

So if I wish to work with TRADOS, I would rename the Wordfast template to *.do_, and using Wordfast rename the Trados template to *.do_

It is quite improbable, that you will need both programms running at the same time, and both templates add a lot of Macros to Word, what slows down the performance.

But you should not have any problems with both Trados and Wordfast on the same machine.

Trados & WordFast (Simultaneous installation / same system) Oct 2, 2002

Thanks to both of you.

I have no intention nor any need to run both applications simultaneously.

The precaution to rename either *.dot (template) prior to using the other certainly ensures foolproof operation, but naturally it is cumbersome.

However, it is wise advise to keep Trados available for regular production at all times.

You do not need to rename anything Oct 3, 2002

You can turn them on and off on the fly.

Just use Tools->Templates command in MS Word to enable certain templates.

The menu can be named differently in different versions of Word.
