I am looking for more information about this way of transferring files. How do you set it up?

FTP can be setup through a server (you can download server software from the web and instal it locally and have it switch on only when you need it).
In order to access stuff via FTP you need to use FTP client applications (either from Unix or Dos; ONLY RECOMMEND THIS IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING) or use a number of web browser based programs.

| It is very easy || Nov 26, 2002 |
I have been using this process for quite a while and it is very easy to use.
If you want to transfer files to your customer\'s FTP you will need to have a FTP software. There are quite a few I have used before and they are free from the Internet. Please have a look at:
Once you download the software and have the ftp address of your customer and a password given by them it will be very easy to transfer files (either uploading or downloading) just by clicking the directory and search for your files and then give command to upload/download.
You can also have your own FTP address. Some internet providers provide this free. If you do, your clients can pick the files from there and can put the files there for you as well. They can only access your FTP address if you provide them a password. Both software programs from indicated sites allow this management.
If you prefer to allocate your customers individual passwords so that they can only access the information you want them to (to avoid browsing in between projects) you will probably prefer a different FTP software. Please have a look at http://www.serv-u.com/
Hope this helps you. If you require further info on how to work with FTP software please feel free to contact me personally.
