Moderators are volunteers who receive no compensation or advantages

There have been some misunderstandings lately regarding the moderator role, and I would like to clarify the following:

(1) Moderators are not paid or compensated in any way. In fact, moderators pay for their own platinum memberships (although some choose not to be platinum members.)

(2) Moderators enjoy absolutely no benefits when it comes to jobs or KudoZ

In addition to moderators, there are a number of regular members who are enthusiastic about, and who may at times encourage others to take out platinum memberships. These people, too, are not being compensated in any way.

In short, when it comes to moderators and enthusiastic members, there is nothing hidden--just take their words at face value!

Critics: ask yourself if you have benefitted from the efforts of these volunteers. Shouldn't you be thanking them?

I hope this message will serve to discourage further baseless accusations.
