I just wondered...by seeing \'French vs canadian french\' forum. I speak very limited portuguese and I found that Portugal Portuguese sounds very different. I wonder if it is different in written way...

Dear Kaori,


Brazilian Portuguese is different from Iberian Portuguese in some points:


1) Different words for the same things:


Brazil Portugal


açougue talho butchery

fila bicha line, queue

terno fato men\'s suit



2) Different pronunciation for the same sounds, especially the \"s\"


3) In Portugal, the use of the pronouns is more frequent than in Brazil


All this makes mutual understanding a little difficult, but not impossible.
