Прошу помощи с настроенной расстановкой клавишей на Windows 7

Я только что установил Windows 7 чтобы использовать электронные
словари типа Lingvo.

In plain English (in case my Russian is entirely incomprehensible):
I just installed Windows 7 on my new Macintosh so I can use
Windows-based electronic dictionaries. The default Russian keyboard layout in Windows
7 is the one that natives use. I need the phonetic (sometimes called
Student, transliterated, or QWERTY) keyboard layout that I use on
the Macintosh to type in Russian (as in this post).

I downloaded a Microsoft program that allows you to customize
keyboards and I modified the placement of the Russian letters
to match what I have on my Macintosh (e.g. phonetic). However,
this keyboard does not show up in the list of available keyboards
when I try to switch to Russian to use Lingvo. Worse, now I can't
even input ANY Russian, even using Microsoft's keyboard.

Can anyone let me know what I have done wrong and how to correct it?

Thanks in advance,
Gary

Maybe you'll have to create one yourself with MS Keyboard Layout Manager Dec 27, 2009

I have no experience of Windows 7 or of Macs, but I had a similar problem when I got a new laptop with Windows Vista. Neither my tried and trusted Paul Gorodyansky student keyboard nor any other I could find on the net worked with Vista. Paul Gorodyansky had some instructions on how to load his keyboard into Vista but I couldn't make them work.
So I ended up using the Keyboard Layout Manager to create my own keyboard. I should think there must be a version of this for Windows 7 on a Mac.

Thanks, Jack Dec 27, 2009

I think that's the name of the MS program I used. The problem was that I couldn't
get Windows 7 to display it in the menu of available keyboards.

try installing XP (with SP3) Dec 27, 2009

it is more straightforward, much richer in terms of custom settings, and consumes much less resources (which is especially important if it runs in virtual environment). Besides, it supports much more third-party software applications (so you may google for and use other tools, not just the ones built in the OS).icon_smile.gif

(I have no experience with MACs either. I just outlined my personal approach, if I had faced such a problem.)

Try Multi Key word macro Dec 28, 2009

I am using it for other than Russian languages, but they have Russian as well (A-a R-р and so on). It should work even with W7 (I have XP).
Hope it may help.

The problem is getting Windows 7 to recognize a modified keyboard layout Dec 28, 2009

I was able to create a phonetic keyboard with a program I downloaded from the
Microsoft website. The problem is that it doesn't show up in the menu when I search
for language/keyboard layouts in Control Panels.
