THE PIG One evening in October, When I was far from sober, And dragging home a load with manly pride, My feet began to stutter, so I lay down in the gutter, And a pig came up and parked right by my side. Then I warbled, “Its fair weather When good fellows get together”, Till a lady passing by was heard to say: “You can tell a man who boozes By the company he chooses!” Then the pig got up and slowly walked away.

Eagerly I wished the morrow;- vainly I had sought to borrow From my books surcease of sorrow- sorrow for the lost Lenore- For the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name Lenore- Nameless here for evermore. But the metre is not quite the same and I am inclined to think it is just coincidence. Who is Balmont?

| | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Просьба перевести поэму о пьянстве No recent translation news about Russian Federation. |
