Peaks and troughs of translation market?

In order to get assistance in setting up my freelance translation business, I have to submit a detailed business plan. Some of the boilerplate questions do not apply very well to the translation business. For instance, I am not aware that there are particular peaks and troughs in the translation market. Nevertheless, perhaps some of you know better? For each month of the year, how would you rate the demand for the services of a Russian translator (high, medium, or low)?

Even if your reply is "kak kogda," any input would be very useful.

штиль в ноябре и январе May 13, 2005

По моим наблюдениям, в ноябре и январе (иногда в феврале) затишье, а вот в сентябре и в декабре работы выше крыши.

End of quarters for me May 13, 2005

Hi Clive,

Christmas and January is a quiet period as well as around some other holidays (eg. Easter).

I have found that end of quarters (eg. February/March, May/June, August/September and November) can be particularly busy. But this may be linked to my particular customers (quarterly magazine and accountancy company). Somehow I manage to arrange my holidays around these dates anyway and at times I have ended up working on the beach!

Cheers!

Схема May 13, 2005

Once I had to make a BP. I mad a diagram of revenues for the year in question. I just took all invoices and drew up a diagram.

Вот что у меня получилось.

А вообще, год на год не приходится и много работы лето – это скорее исключение.
