I received the same message... Jul 25, 2011

I believe they received my information from the ATA database because I received the e-mail directly with an attachment.

The document in the attachment was copied from a PDF posted on the internet. They changed the dates to make it seem as if it was a current document, when in fact, it is from 2004, if I recall correctly.

Everyone is advised to disregard it as spam.

Same here! Jul 25, 2011

I received exactly the same message (with same mistakes / typos), with attachments, for both Dutch and Hebrew.
I guess you're right, Bryan: seems as if the information was pulled from the ATA-database.
When will these people stop?? It's such a waste of time, for all of us ...

me, too Jul 27, 2011

I just received this.

So, where's the scam?

Has he replied to someone promising to send a check twice the amount of the rate, or some other such nonsense?

My R$ 0.02 Jul 27, 2011

I had the dubious honor of receiving the Portuguese edition, but I suppose he wants European rather than Brazilian Portuguese.

(Wondering if the name "Bill Bord" is meant to be some kind of joke.)

It is a phishing scam Jul 28, 2011

Hi,
Many of us received it. I just want to say that nobody should treat it as a joke. It is a phishing scam.
Some years ago, a good number of interpreters fell for a scam similar to that. They received fake money orders and sent back real money in order to guarantee a job offer. Most fell into it because they wanted to make easy money, but it does not justify the whole thing.
Lee Roth is right, by answering one only confirms the email is valid which can open an avalanche for other scams.
Take care.

TOPIC STARTER
so, it is a scam... Jul 28, 2011

According to the other websites, this sender (the same name, phone number and email address) will ask you to send money by Western Union.

We have to be able to recognize the warning signs, such as Dear Sir/Madam, typing errors, grammatical mistakes....and even if the email does contain your correct name, it does not guarantee that it is legit.

Scam only exists because there are people who respond to it. Replying is the worst you can do... Do not fall for a phishing scam!
