I received the following e-mail this morning, and it positively reeks of scam. I am posting this to alert others.

Hello & Good day,
A client of mine is interested in your Translation services.

You will have to translate 1136 Pages Document of roughly 250 words per page within a space of 6-10 months.

Documents to be translated are

1) Agreements,
2) Terms & Conditions of Services,
3) Terms of Reference
4) Proposal and Contract Forms

If you are interested in this let me know so we can take things further.

Regards

Steve Bowline.

The return e-mail address is agc@pdgky.com.

I Googled Steve Bowline. Yes, there is a guy by that name -- listed in the US Dept. of Agriculture database as a guy with a farm in Kansas.

Translators beware!

Mariana, it will be interesting to see if you get a reply to your request for more information. I didn't reply at all because I was worried about getting yet more scam spam. Boa sorte!

I seriously doubt that Sep 20, 2011

anyone would commission a $50,000.00+ translation job in this manner. Ask for half ($25,000.00) up front by PayPal or other confirmed payment method and I'll bet you won't get a response.

Secondly, 6-10 months is a reasonable time frame for 284,000 words. Today's client would want it translated by Friday.

Same email Oct 3, 2011

Hi everybody,

I've received the same email 3 weeks ago and because I received it in an old address that I don't use anymore I answered to it about 2 weeks later. Although my late reply Mr Steve answer to me and sent me a sample of the translation, but I had a bad feeling (everything was so weird), so I did a research on Google and there I found you!
Thanks God there's Proz.
Regards,

Lorena Rojas
