This morning I received the following email:

Auto Response
jimherbert48 to you

Thank you for your message. If this is message concerns translating/proofreading/editing,
please use my professional address:

dr.jamesherbert@gmail.com

Best regards,
James Herbert

The IP address locates the person in Palo Alto, CA, USA. And also IP 127.0.0.1 City Reserved ???

The funny thing is... I didn't send any emails to that address. Nor do I know anyone by that name.
Could be a pishing attempt.

What puzzles me is the "auto response". It this a new kind of scam?

Stay safe!

Regards,
Thayenga

Possibly someone has been using (hacked) your mail address Jun 25, 2012

and you have got an autoreply to that. Did happen to me once but I got more than one autoreply, which made it easier to identify.

Hi David,

thank you for your reply. This is quite possible because I've been trying to change
my password, but keep being directed to my provider's "benefit page" and am asked to log back in everytime. I've already submitted a support request.

Maybe I should take my own advice and... stay safe

Regards,
Thayenga
