Hi,

this morning I received the following email from:

Henry Beauperin henrybeauperin@gmail.com

Well, perhaps he should make up his mind whether he wants an interpreter or a translator.
And since the message was sent via my profile, he really should have realized that I don't offer interpretation services.

Better luck next time!icon_biggrin.gif

Good Morning,

I require the services of an interpreter/Translator for a job i
will be coordinating in Germany from July till the end of this
year.

The job would be once a week.
We would reach an agreement on choosing the day of the week that
suits both parties.
Please send me an email if you may be interested in this job and
i
will send you more information.
The job is Valuation related.

I received the same email, except for one thing Jul 22, 2012

Hello Thayenga.
I just saw the very same email except that it was written that "he would be coordinating this job in FRANCE" (not in Germany).
Since I am new on ProZ, it is my first direct email so I'm a stranger to "scams".
Googling his name allowed me to see your message right away (nothing about the name though).
I would not have replied because it looked strange to me (not enough information and I don't offer interpretation services either) but I hope I won't be naive enough to reply to one of those emails some day...
Thank you for your warning anyway!
Eva

got the same email today, Jul 22, 2012

and I do not offer interpretation, either. I deleted it at once.

Henry joined ProZ.com only a few days ago without giving any details about himself.

Hmmmm Jul 22, 2012

The strange thing about this sender is that he is a paying member here at ProZ.com.

Perhaps a scammer willing to invest? Or not a scammer?

Thank you Thayenga for this post, I didn't know what to do with this mail!icon_smile.gif
Since I couldn't find a single thing about him after Googling his name, I decided to wait.
And today your post is the only resulticon_wink.gif

A strange one indeed Jul 22, 2012

@ Eva,

please subscribe to the scam alerts, either the daily or the weekly ones. Just go here and subscribe.

http://www.proz.com/about/translator-scam-alerts/subscribe

They keep you up-to-date on scammer activities. And... welcome to the community.icon_smile.gif

The funny part of this one is that he's a paying member. Usually scammers want to make and not spend money. To be on the safe side, I've submitted a support request to the moderator.

Stay safe and scam-free.icon_smile.gif

Regards,
Thayenga

Thank you, Leïla, for the additional information. I didn't realize that he's joined the community just yesterday.

The general advice published in these various 'Scams' threads is not to enter into any kind of correspondence with these people. Apart from the fact that you might inadvertently be giving them more information about yourself, the fact that you contact them is only likely to validate their action and encourage them.

Remember, if you receive an e-mail via your ProZ.com profile, the sender (scammer?) does not find out your 'real' e-mail address — unless you make the mistake of answering them, in which case you will give it to them, and thus open yourself up to a whole flood of new spam or scams!

Thanks for reporting this! Jul 22, 2012

I personally would immediately dismiss an offer like this because of the style and lack of information on the outsourcer and on the nature of the offered job (language pair, subject, etc).

We have reports of the same job being offered in France, Germany and Switzerland. If you received similar offer for services requested in other countries please send a support request with a copy of the message received.

If you want to consider this job my advise would be to ask for verifiable contact information from the job poster and to verify it before further commitments.

Regards,
Enrique Cavalitto

Same mail, same day, same sender Jul 22, 2012

I also recieved a mail of this so called Henry Beauperin and transmitted it to a colleague, who just sent me this post. So I thought I might add my 'complaint' to all the others and ask the moderator for more information on this scam.
I never answered the mail and deleted it immediately.
Thanks all for mentioning it.

Marijke
