Hi,

I have recently received this email via Proz:

Good Day,

I need to employ an individual who can work virtually or real-time
as a personal assistant in France.
If you are interested in this position, kindly send me an email
requesting more information.

Kind regards

I answered to him and I have received some more emails from tgis address: andrewdoylee@gmail.com

He offers a job his personal assistant and the duties are to book hotels, organising agendas, etc. However, I find that weird, because he offers a lot of money (60€/hour, takiing into account that he wants you to be available 25h/week!)

I am starting to think that it may be a scam. I have googled him and I can't find anything...

Anyone has more clues please???

Thank you for your help

Gemma

You think it is a spam? Have you answered to him or has he given more information about the "job"?

Thank you

I just discarded the message Jun 10, 2014

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Cheers,
Gerard

I just found his address among the 5977 emails listed here: http://www.translator-scammers.com/translator-scammers-emails.htm

You can verify it if you want.

So...I think we have the answer. I just thought it was too good to be true...too much many involved.

Me too Jun 10, 2014

I got it too, but binned it straight away. Of no interest whatsoever, plus it did sound suspicious to me.

Someone called me with a similar proposal a few weeks ago. It was not the same person. I declined the offer.

I nearly answered saying that no he did not want me as his PA because I would be hopeless at it and he would be better off looking elsewhere, as Proz is littered with people rather like me, good at spending hours polishing a sentence, hopeless at finding a decent hotel and remembering the wife's birthday...

then I decided it just wasn't worth the effort.

Scammedby "Andrew Doyle" Jul 1, 2014

Received it and reacted to it. No fool like an old fool. Thank goodness for Credit Agricole Centre France who stopped the cheque that "Andrew Doyle" sent me. I should have found it odd that an American would spell it cheque and not check. He even responded to my mail telling him that the cheque was a dud. "I must get back to my client", he wrote. I assume and hope that's the last I'll hear of him. I did send him a scan of my passport, for what that's worth. He gave his address as 311 S Garey Ave Pomona, CA 91766, USA, which is probably a branch of Starbucks.

Hi Gerald,
The same happened to me. I'm so glad the bank took its time and checked the check! I also sent a scan of my passport. Today I called the Gendarmerie via https://www.internet-signalement.gouv.fr, and they advised me to "signaler la fraude" on the site, so you're covered (or hope you'll be) if your passeport is used for some other fraudulent scheme.
