A Possible New Scam
Thread poster: Ronnie J Rigdon
Last week, I received an email that went as follows:
In today's crowded marketplace it's becoming more and more difficult to get ahead of the competition.
The easiest way to overcome this is to reach more clients, but how can you do this?
From this very instance, you could have access to our in house developed and verified database of over 6000 translation agencies, allowing you to quickly reach more clients than ever before.
Your copy could be landing in your inbox straight after your purchase for just £24.99 (€33.99 or $38.99). This is 50% less than we would usually sell the list for, so if cost has stopped you purchasing before, now is the time to get these contacts.
Our list comes in an easy to use excel format and includes each translation agency's :
-a link to their registration form for new translators*
PLASE NOTE: To avoid spamming we are not able also provide the agencies\' email addresses.
To get your copy of the list and start bringing new clients into your world right now, visit the link below, or reply to this email.
*only applies to agencies which offer such a service
This is a promotional email.
This smells very much like a scam as one should never pay for a list such as that.
If possible please pass this on.

...an online application form.
What would be interesting would be an algorithm that would automatically access and fill out all these forms for you automatically based on info entered one time into an initial database. I think there used to be something similar to submit websites to search engines.
And another way of making easy money.
Every ProZ.com member has access to the Blue Board and to the list of companies/agencies. So why waste money on a list that might not even be useful?
| bigger opportunity to reach end users || Jan 24, 2016 |
In the online networking era, freelance translators have bigger opportunities to directly contact and connect to end users. I believe that, in immediate future (2-5 years), SEO and SEF role will be replaced by networking social media and networking search engine.
What does it mean?
It means, we will have bigger opportunity to reach end users! \(^_^)/
It is a good news for us.
