When there are sentences beginning with a number, the segments are always opend AFTER this number. This is a problem when the translation of the sentence has to start with text, e.g. Finnish "19.6. asti ja 13.7.-19.8." -> English "Until 19.6. and 13.7.-19.8."
Trados always gives me a segment "asti ja 13.7.-19.8". How do I manage to get even the initial "19.6." into the segment in order to get a reasonable sentence to translate not leavin behind any fragments to be taken away by hand after the cleanup?

Thanks in advance!

Do you have the original file Apr 16, 2008

And what is the format of it?

If it is a word document you can segment it with Wordfast using pandora's box.

IMHO, Trados should at least offer such an option. This 'numbers issue' is one of the reasons why I prefer another CAT tool (Deja Vu).

Have a look at the segmentation rule(s) n the TWB / File / setup Apr 16, 2008

Trados always gives me a segment "asti ja 13.7.-19.8".

It's the "Stop character is a dot" segmentation rule - it should perform as you (and I) expect it to - but looks like it does not. You may have some luck by playing with an extra skip rule for "Number plus dot".

My way out of it would be to edit the source ("asti ja 13§7§-19§8" for instance, it is pretty straightforward global search and replace rule I assume) and then edit the target once I am done.
