I will be recieving a large project for a web-translation consisting of html-files. Now I compared Trados tageditor and SDLX editor. When I load a file into TE, I see all html-tags. After creating a project in SDLX I see only plain text in the editor.
I translated a few sentences and created the translation. All looks well.
There are no fancy codes in these files, the tags seem to be mostly paragraph tags etc.

So I wonder if I have done something wrong in TE. Is it possible to prepare the files for TE so that the tags are left out?
There will be no TM provided, so I have to start from scratch and better make the right decision which tool to use.

It would make sense to check the html code for correctness (w3c compatibility etc). If the material is indeed comme if faut, then you dont need to keep tags in front of your eyes.

EDIT: on a second thought, not sduvch a great idea: I am sure the checks will find all kinds of missing end-paragraph tags etc, so the suggestion is pretty useless. Maybe you simply use some browser to look at the source and then at the target to see if it makes any difference.

View setting for TagEditor May 14, 2008

In TagEditor, you can use View > Tag setting to select showing of html tags fully, partially or minimally.
For me, Trados is better than SDLX on html tag editing: I can prevent mistake of Format Painting in SDLX.
