Hi everyone,

I have installed SDL Trados 2007 (version 8.0, build 835). My operating system is Windows Vista.

I have tried to use Tag Editor but I am experiencing problems with the Plug ins all in all:

These are the errors I get:

- Unknown error when reading plug-in filter management file.
- Failed to retrieve tag toolbar settings for plugin file format
- No verification plugin could verify this document

So I can open and close segments but I can't verify nor the spelling or grammar and perform the tag verification.

I would be very gratefuly if anyone could help!

Thanks in advance for your help.

Sorry but this likely won't help you, I am also experiencing problems with plug-ins.

I have Trados 2007 v8 b7035 (service pack 2)

Everything was working fine, I was translating a ppt slide in tag editor, and then everything stopped working.

Since I had two sets of trados (2007 and 2006) I removed 2006.

Now Trados Synergy says that I need to be running in license mode and wouldn't start, so I re-registered and that seems to be working again.

But Tageditor will not work, it says that the Powerpoint filter is not registered.

In Synergy I tried to change filter settings and it said that Plugnfilefilterdefinitions.xml is not found.

It then said that there was an "error loading java virtual memory settings" and a window with all of the filters for office 2000 and later (word, ppt, excel, etc) showed up all greyed out.

However, I found both Powerpoing filter and Plugnfilefilterdefinitions.xml in my computer.

Does anyone have any idea what is going on?

Of course it happens when I have an impending deadline.

Reinstalling worked Jun 29, 2008

Well, several hours later... I downloaded the software from SDl (1 hour) and erased all of the previous installation... then reinstalled everything... and now it is working.

I still cannot do spell check Jun 29, 2008

It wasn't until I read Estefania's post that I realized I can't check spelling either. So, I hope someone will reply to her.

I find some bugs in SDL Trados 2007.
SDL International has a webpage to discuss on this matter. It also has patches for this software.
Please check at SDL Trados Knowledgebase.

Hello Estefanía,

The errors you are receiving are most likely caused by corrupt filters used by SDL TagEditor. You can find a helpful step by step guide to fixing this problem at the SDL Knowledge Base. Please visit the link below and follow the instructions provided:

I hope this helps.

Many Thanks,
