Hello,

I have a translation of a manual in FrameMaker format. To translate it
with SDLX I converted the files to .mif format. With every conversion
there are 3 extra files sdlx_ix.itd, sdlx_xr.itd and sdlx_va.itd.

How can I import these files back to .mif after having translated them?

Thank you,
Nikolett

Convert the project back to MIF Jul 17, 2008

Convert the project back to MIF. Again – the project (using Project Wizard), not the ITD files. The additional files will be automatically used during this conversion.

Conversion ok, but no import Jul 17, 2008

Thank you.

Now I converted the .itd files back to .mif using the Project wizard, but this three files are still not imported back to the main .mif. What did I do wrong?

Thanks again.
Nikolett

How did you check that? Jul 17, 2008

How did you check that? Could you describe the problem with the translated MIF file?

Still german cross references in translated .mif Jul 17, 2008

I checked it in the .mif file, where still the german cross references and "figure" etc. exist, instead of the english ones.

I used the Project Wizard - selected: Create translations from an existing project - then selected the 4 files (SDLX_ix_mif_EN-GB, SDLX_va_mif_EN-GB, SDLX_xr_mif_EN-GB + normal .itd) - then clicked start.

Was this proceeding right?

No progress Jul 21, 2008

Unfortunately I still haven't managed to import these 3 files to the .mif file. Is there any other possibility then the Project Wizard? Or could someone help me with a step-by-step instruction how to do it correctly?

My problem is that cross references like "see Chapter 1.5 ..." or "Table 1" or "Figure 4" are still in the source language.

They need updating Jul 22, 2008

Some of the x-refs won't update automatically. Have you tried saving the MIF files as FM files and updating cross-references? You can also manually look for unresolved x-refs and double-click them to check their source.
