We are starting to create content for the ProZ.comWiki at - and would like to ask the SDL Support forum users to help us create a series of "How To" articles for the Wiki. Have you posed a question in the forum? Did you get an answer? Consider taking the answer you received and making a Wiki entry on SDL TRADOS How To. Your fellow users will find it much easier to research their problems in the future while being able to add to the body of knowledge on the Wiki page.

Simply go to the Wiki at and start by searching SDL TRADOS How To {insert topic} and select "go" if no article is currently in the Wiki you will see a result that includes "create this page" in red. Click on create this page and then enter your content and save the page. The goal is to have a resource of articles on HOW TO work with SDL TRADOS. All articles should be titled like this "SDL TRADOS How To export TM" as an example.

Once you create the wiki entry email the article link to

Let's see if the SDL TRADOS Support forum users combined can create at least 20 Wiki articles before the end of August.

All users that create an SDL TRADOS how to wiki entry will be entered in to a drawing for a free years worth of membership and a futbol (soccer to us yanks) jersey.

Hope to see SDL TRADOS How To Wiki entries soon.

Thnaks for you help

Is it correct to assume a certain bias towards SDL in your posting?

I'm already quite surprised, not to say angry, that outsourcers can filter translators for having passed a SDL exam, and translators can decorate their profiles with this qualification when at the same time there neither exists the possbility to register my MD as a qualification nor can outsourcers filter translators for such a qualification.

I critiziced several times in the last few days what I assume is Proz's current orientation and I would really not like to see, how another pillar (Proz' not having any bias towards any company) is sacrificed for short term "results".

I started an Across Wiki and how to as well and will be inviting support forum posters in those areas to complete how to articles on those CAT Tools as well. A Wiki entry can be started by anyone. There was no bias. The SDL TRADOS Support forum is the largest so it was done in the first round, would you suggest we start elsewhere?

Please understand this is a community initiative, information from users for users. The value and benefit to the community is irrespective of any marketing or advertising arrangements we may have with a specific Tool Manufacturer. The Wiki is not a platform for manufacturers marketing messages. We are building a resource and knowledge center that is more robust and up to date than perhaps many manufacturers own resource centers. We are doing this for our users, not manufacturers.

First SDL TRADOS How To Wiki entry (with video) from ProZian Aug 8, 2008

Juan Martin has gracefully demonstrated the Wiki format with his entry and supporting video on how to use Autotext

Wiki entries need not be long or cumbersome complex process. Feel free to make an entry on any topic demonstrating how to work with SDL TRADOS.

Great entry Juan - thanks, let' seeif we can get 20 by the end of the month.
