Hi!
I need assistance with this error. I just bought the licence and downloaded SDL TRADOS 2007-FL-SP2-835 + SDL MULTITERM 2007-DESKTOP SP1 NOPF.
Workbench is working OK, but when I try to clean up a file I get error:
(-2147467259): Filter Definition file not found: Excel_2_0_0_0.xml
Yesterday I already uninstalled and reinstalled the application several times, but it won't work...
Would appreciate assistance from more experience colleagues!
Have a great day!

Still not working Aug 21, 2008

Thanks for your prompt reply Gareth, but I still cannot fix it...

Please note I could locate the file in the following path:
C:\Archivos de programa\SDL International\T2007_FL\TT\PluginFileFilterDefinitions.xml

When I right-click on the file properties, it shows me:
C:\Program Files\SDL International\T2007_FL\TT\PluginFileFilterDefinitions.xml

I tried running regedit and updating to:
C:\Program Files\SDL International\T2007_FL\TT\PluginFileFilterDefinitions.xml

It won't work.

I tried updating to:
C:\Archivos de programa\SDL International\T2007_FL\TT\PluginFileFilterDefinitions.xml

It won't work either.

Could it be there is a conflict because my Windows Vista is set up in Spanish?

Repair the application Aug 21, 2008

Hello Cecilia,

This (a filter file missing) happened to me when I installed MultiTerm after installing Trados, and also recently when I did some updates.
It's quite possible that the problem (like in my case) is not in "PluginFileFilterDefinitions.xml", but in missing filters in the directory:
c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SDL International\Filters\
(note that the "Application Data" part of the path my be localized - its "Data aplikací" in my case).
You should have some 26 files there, 16 of which should be XML files.
(We're talking about SDL 2007 SP 2, it might be different in other versions).
If they're not there, we've found the problem

I guess it's possible to find the files somewhere any copy them to the proper location, but I use an easier way - go to Control Panels -> Add/Remove Programs, find "SDL Trados Freelance", click on Modify button, and then (when the setup program starts), choose "Repair".

In one case I had to do this twice - The program did not work after the first Repair, so I ran it again, and it works now.

HTH

Marek

P.S. I'm working in Windows XP; the path to filters may be a little different in Vista, but I hope the good old "Add/Remove programs" is still there, isn't it?

"Repair" + "regedit" and still not working Aug 22, 2008

Hi Marek,
Thank you very much for your suggestion.

I tried the "repair" option, and it restored the default path which is not where I could locate my files. They were in several locations and tried to run "regedit" for several of them, but none worked.

Last one I tried is:

C:\Users\Cecilia Bonello\Application Data\SDL International\MultiTerm 2007\Extract\PluginFileFilterDefinitions.xml

(I also tried the path with "usuarios" instead of "users" just in case, but nothing...)

I ran regedit and updated same, but still not working....

I get a slightly different error, but still related to filter definition:
(-2147467259): Filter definitions file C:\Program Files\SDL

I'm at a loss after two days of trying everything, including unstalling and re-installing the application several times.....

Have a great weekend!
Cecilia

COPYING/PASTING THE FILE TO THE PATH TRADOS WAS LOOKING FOR DID THE TRICK Aug 22, 2008

Hey guys,

I resorted to an unconventional thing: I just copied the filter definition file from another location into the path workbench was following for clean up, and it worked!
Apparently regedit was not changing the location path for some reason...

I'll go get a red wine, hope this can help someone else!

Have you all a great weekend!!!!!

Cecilia
