I just reinstalled my Trados but now I try to open a segment using the Tradios tool bar in MS Word and it says "Work Bench not running" even though Workbench is opening OK. What should I do?

Oh my Trados is Trados 7 Freelance, OS is Vista and MS Word 2003

Quite simple Sep 24, 2008

Your Trados version is not compatible with Windows Vista.
Either you downgrade to Windows XP or upgrade to the latest SDL Trados version.
BTW, this is a well known "problem", so yyou could have avoided that, informing yourself for example here, if your software will be compatible with Vista.

I use T7freelance and Word 2003 with a Vista operating system and mine works no bother at all.

There must be something else going on:

Are you sure you're using the older version of Word and not the 2007 version, which ships with Vista (even if only on a trial basis)?

It's pretty easy to tell them apart, they look completely different.

thanks Sep 24, 2008

I just installed it again and its working!

And yes it is compatible with Vista, at least partially, because Ive been working with that same version of Trados 7 in Vista since March.

This time I installed it from a fresh torrent-dowload file (same version, 7) , turned off the computer after uninstalling the old Trados, installed the new download, turned off the computer, turned it back on and it worked.

The other question, if the same happened with TagEditor, yes, when I opened TagEditor, it asked as usual if I wanted to open Workbench, but then a warning appeared "Workbench could not be opened", and TagEditor was crashing a lot.

Besides, my Vista still does not recognize the ttx extension as a TagEditor file, no little icon appears on the side, and I have to open the ttx files by opening TagEditor first.

Other than that, everything seems to be working just fine.

So you're simply lucky Sep 24, 2008

According to SDL, Trados 7 is NOT compatible with Vista. This does not mean it will never work, but you should not expect it to work flawlesly.
